Steven Crowell - Jazz Guitarist Extraordinaire

Born in Oakland, California Steven Crowell began teaching and playing guitar full time in 1964. While raising a family he continued to pursue formal music studies including advanced and twentieth century harmony courses as well as two years of private study with jazz guitar legend Warren Nunes. In 1972 Mr. Crowell received his certification and teaching credential from the State of California.

In 1979 Steve published the first volume of his guitar instruction course which was based upon his unique performing and educational experiences. This was met with critical acclaim - Guitar Player Magazine calls Steve's work "some of the best" - and has evolved into a four year college level jazz guitar course which has become a best seller worldwide!

Over the years Steve has performed at venues ranging from upscale restaurants, where he plays elegant solo jazz guitar, to night clubs and nationwide jazz festivals performing with trios, quartets, and big bands! He has worked with the top names in show business including George Burns, Bob Newhart, The Coasters, The Diamonds, Sly & The Family Stone, and jazz pianist Big Tiny Little. He has also played on the recorded soundtracks of famous Hollywood movies like "Cobb" with Tommy Lee Jones and "Sister Act" with Whoopie Goldberg.
