"2 Guitar DVDs You Should Own"

Dear Advancing Guitarist,

I was lucky enough to have the world famous guitar maker Paul Reed Smith show me how to correctly adjust the truss rods plus set up the intonation and string height on my guitars when I was in my early 20's living back in Annapolis, Maryland. I was stunned at how much better I was able to play guitar and how much easier everything I was playing became - literally overnight! My left hand wasn't fighting the strings anymore and my playing sounded more legato and effortless! Adjusting and setting up your own guitars is easy to do once you know how. Professional luthier Denny Rauen will teach you how to correctly do this step by step on his latest instructional DVDs. They are 2 of the most important DVDs any guitar player could ever own! Highly recommended!!

Denny Rauen - Guitar Setup & Maintenance - DVD
Denny Rauen is a nationally acclaimed master luthier whose clientele includes many top guitarists and collectors from around the world including Keith Richards, Buddy Guy, Leo Kottke, Roger Glover and many others! In this must have instructional DVD for all guitarists, Denny thoroughly explains and teaches how to correctly setup an acoustic guitar, how to correctly setup an electric guitar, how to correctly setup a jazz guitar, how to correctly setup a slide guitar, how to correctly setup a Floyd Rose vibrato bar, how to correctly adjust the truss rod so that your guitar neck is straight and flat which actually makes your strings much easier to press down by decreasing the distance between the fretboard and the strings, how to correctly adjust the intonation so that your guitar chords are perfectly in tune all over the neck, how to correctly measure and adjust the string height so that your guitar is effortless to play, as well as many other unique tricks of the trade learned through years of building, repairing, and adjusting all makes and models of guitars! A properly adjusted guitar is a dream to play and will literally improve your guitar playing overnight. You'll also be able to play longer without your fingers getting tired or sore! Why pay someone else to adjust your guitars when you can learn to do it better yourself from a true expert?

Duck Baker - Versatile Fingerstyle Guitar Master!
Compiled & Edited By Steven Herron

Duck Baker was born Richard R. Baker IV in Washington, D.C. in 1949 and grew up in Richmond, Virginia. His teenage years were devoted to playing with rock and blues bands before becoming interested in fingerpicking guitar styles that he heard in local coffee houses. Ragtime pianist Buck Evans was a major influence on Baker's developing interests, which by the time he moved to San Francisco in 1973 included piano rags, blues, old-time country, Cajun, bluegrass, and New Orleans jazz. This variety inspired the title of his first solo record, "There's Something for Everyone in America," in 1976.

 Duck Baker Plays "Summertime"

During the next 4 years, Duck Baker recorded several solo guitar albums including one devoted to swing, one to modern jazz, and one to Irish and Scottish tunes, and appeared on nine others. He also wrote a book of fiddle tune arrangements for solo guitar and toured incessantly throughout America, Canada, Europe and Australia. He changed addresses almost as frequently, finally winding up in Europe for most of the '80s. He returned to San Francisco in 1987 and finally to Virginia in 1991. Most of his more recent solo recordings have featured his own compositions, an aspect of his work that has drawn particular praise from other guitarists.
